Automation across a very large catalog of apps, with AI steps. This profile reads the pricing page, because that is where Zapier now separates four things: the task-metered platform, the standalone Agents add-on with its own activity meter, AI by Zapier inside the task economy, and the Copilot builder with message limits.
The unit is the thing to pin down
Zapier meters tasks, and it says so on the card rather than in a footnote. The free plan is denominated in them and the paid plans are sold by how many of them you want, chosen from a list that starts at the free allowance and steps up from there. So what a busy month turns on is not which plan you are on, it is how often your workflows fire.
That is a clearer answer than most of this directory gets, and it is why the free tier at the top of this profile carries a number instead of the word limited. Whether that number is generous depends entirely on what a task means for the workflows you would build, and the vendor is the one defining the term.
The entry price is on the card, and so is the mode it belongs to. The page opens with Pay yearly selected, and in that mode the Professional card reads "Starting from" above "$19.99 /month". Switch to Pay monthly and the same card reads "Starting from" above "$29.99 /month". The figure at the top of this profile is the monthly one. The task count is chosen separately from the task selector above the cards, whose first paid option reads "750 tasks /mo", and the card prices are quoted for that entry tier.
Agents still has its own meter while Zapier migrates the capability
Zapier Agents is a separate product, sold as an add-on and metered in activities rather than tasks. The Agents tab on the pricing page lists three plans: Agents Free, Agents Pro, and Agents Enterprise. The Free card prints "400 activities per month" in its feature list, and its subtitle names the same allowance in different words: "Run automated behaviors up to 400 times per month". With Pay monthly selected, the Agents Pro card reads "Billed monthly" above "$50 /month". Switch to Pay yearly and the same card reads "$400 billed annually", with the monthly share shown as "$33.33 /month".
Zapier's migration guide says "Zapier is migrating Agents (agents.zapier.com) to AI by Zapier", a more powerful AI experience built directly into the Zap editor. Agents ran as a standalone product, and the guide names the reason for the move: because it lived outside the core platform, it could not combine agents with the full library of Zap triggers, actions, filters, branching logic, and automation history. The guide also states there is no shutdown date: "Zapier has not set a date to turn off Agents yet. Before any changes happen, Zapier will email affected users with enough notice to migrate their agents." As of the current check, Zapier still publishes Agents Free, Agents Pro, and Agents Enterprise plans on its pricing page.
Two meters, two sources. Zapier's usage article says "Zapier Agents is billed as an add-on to your Zapier account", and the same article draws the line between the meters: "Using activities does not affect your Zapier task usage." The platform counts tasks, Agents counts activities, and that quoted sentence is the boundary between them.
AI by Zapier moves agentic work into Zaps
AI by Zapier is the destination of the migration, and it is where the platform's one-meter story reassembles. It is an AI step inside the Zap editor, and it bills through the shared task pool. The model-tier table lists the multipliers as Standard 1x, Advanced 3x, Premium 5x, plus one row for Your own AI account (Bring Your Own Key) 1x, with Advanced or Premium models only. The same article gives the formula as one task for the run base, plus one for each tool call, each multiplied by the model tier.
That is the boundary a buyer needs. Agents has its own activity meter and its own add-on bill. AI by Zapier runs inside the task economy, and the migration guide says it in plain words: "AI by Zapier uses the same task-based pricing as the rest of Zapier." The model-tier article names the guardrail: "The task limit determines the maximum number of tasks an AI by Zapier step can use during a single run. The default is 75 tasks, and you can raise it up to 500 tasks". The pricing page states the change in one sentence: "AI steps, code, and SDK now all follow the same task-based pricing model."
Copilot is the builder, not the runtime meter
One line of the free card can read as a fourth metered product: "Zapier Copilot" appears in its key features. Copilot is a separate assistant that builds, expands, and maintains assets across Zapier products, and Zapier's own help article says that "while building and testing with Zapier Copilot, you will not use any of your plan's tasks or add-ons". On the free plan, "there is a daily limit to how many Copilot messages you can send". That is a message limit, not task billing, which is why Copilot sits apart from the task pool even though it appears on the plan card.
