What separates the tools here
Adoption cost is the first axis. A plugin installs into what a team already runs. An editor asks everybody to switch, which is a much larger request even when the editor is better.
The second axis is what the vendor commits to about your source. Privacy modes, retention terms and whether code is used for training are all published, all different between vendors, and all things a security review will ask about before a purchase order is signed.
What we publish here
The Cursor review reads the seat price, the pooled usage and the on-demand rate off the same docs, and the GitHub Copilot review is where the organization privacy answer is decided. The head to head is where the two free tiers are read side by side.
