Workflow automation with AI nodes, self hostable. The self hosting option is why it turns up on shortlists beside products it otherwise has little in common with: it turns a subscription question into an infrastructure question.
Two ways to buy it means two different figures
n8n answers the self hosting half plainly, and on its pricing page rather than in a forum thread. A block headed Community Edition carries one sentence of description: "A standard, self-hosted version of n8n is available on GitHub." That is the vendor stating the option exists, which is worth more than the same conclusion inferred from a feature table.
The hosted half is where the page earns its keep. The pricing page serves the same four plan cards in both billing modes, and a switch above them labels the gap between the two sets of figures: Annually (Save 17%). With the Monthly toggle selected, the Starter card prints 24€, Pro prints 60€ and Business prints 800€, each labeled /mo, billed monthly. Leave the toggle on Annually and the same cards print 20€, 50€ and 667€, each labeled /mo, billed annually. The card prices are in euros, which is the currency the page renders without a region switcher.
The free question has the same shape and a different cause. The cards we can read offer a free trial with no credit card required, and a trial is not a tier. A plan named Free appears in that page's own underlying data and does not appear in the document it served us. So this profile carries neither a free tier nor a claim that there is none, and our methodology is the reason those stay two different sentences.
