HeyGen overlaps heavily with Synthesia on avatar-led video and pushes harder on translation and lip sync across languages. The Synthesia versus HeyGen comparison is where the two free tiers are weighed against each other, minutes against clips.
Three one-minute clips is a demo budget, not a trial budget
The free plan permits three videos a month with a one-minute ceiling on each. That is enough to see whether the avatars and voices clear your quality bar, and not enough to produce anything you would ship. Two further limits are written in the terms and the pricing page, and both belong in the decision. Free output carries a watermark that only a paid plan removes, and free output is licensed for personal, non-commercial, internal evaluation only, which means it cannot be sold, sublicensed, redistributed, monetized, or used in client work or a revenue-generating product.
What a paid plan costs, in USD
Creator is $29 per month, or $24 per month if you pay annually, and the price is shown in USD in the page's own data. The page renders in a localized view, but the underlying pricing data names the currency, so the figure above is publishable rather than guessed. Pro is $49 per month with 1,000 credits, and Business is $149 per month per user with 1,500 credits plus $20 per seat beyond the included seats.
The subscription review reads the pricing and the rights story together, because on this product the ownership sentence and the license HeyGen receives sit in the same clause.
